Fire-Q ltd is an independent UK based fire engineering consultancy offering expert advice and guidance for fire risk related applications. We offer an extremely competitive, reactive and personal service tailored to suite our ever growing list of clients. We aimed towards excellence in providing a personal, responsive and client focused service. Our objective is to deliver the best advice appropriate to the clients’ goals while ensuring a level of risk to persons and property attained is reduced as far as is reasonably practicable. It’s not just our fees that are competitive, it’s our service, dedication and fire engineering abilities across the board.
We maintain a small team of highly experienced fire engineers/associate experts, operating a streamlined and mobile company structure allowing us to work anywhere in the UK and internationally. Minimized overheads mean lower fees for our clients.
We collaborate with an ever growing number of architects, designers, project managers and building owners. Our great rapport with many building regulators allows us to achieve our clients desired design objectives on budget and on time.
We use performance based design and have an expansive, up to date knowledge of protection systems and alternate, cost saving measures designed to meet the functional requirements of the building code, rather than the prescriptive requirements of the guidance documents, which can often be restrictive.
Equivalency, deterministic or probabilistic? We understand risk; meaning we can adopt an appropriate approach for a given scenario based on past experience in order to achieve the desired end goal.

Paul Yeomans graduated from the University of Leads with a first class honors Masters of Fire and Explosions Engineering. He was top in his class four consecutive years and won numerous awards and scholarships. Since graduation he has worked nationally and internationally for various high profile companies, building long standing client relationships and gaining sufficient general and specialized experience to set up Fire-Q ltd. Paul specializes inTimber Frame Fire Spread Risk Assesments and also has a wide base of knowledge in general Fire Engineering Applications.

WHAT IS FIRE ENGINEERING?
Fire Engineering can be described as the application of scientific and engineering principles, procedures, and expert judgement, grounded on an understanding of the phenomena and effects of fire and of the reaction and behavior of people to fire, to protect occupants, buildings and the environment from the destructive effects of fire. These objectives can be accomplished by a range of means including such undertakings as stated below.
- the assessment of the hazards and risks of fire and the consequences;
- the mitigation of potential fire damage by proper design, construction, arrangement, and use of buildings, materials, structures, and similar;
- the appropriate level of evaluation for the optimum preventive and protective measures necessary to limit the consequences of fire;
- the design, installation, maintenance and/or development of fire detection, fire suppression, fire control and fire related communication systems and equipment;
- the direction and control of appropriate equipment and manpower in the strategy and function of firefighting and rescue operations; post-fire investigation and analysis, evaluation and feedback.
WHAT IS A FIRE ENGINEER?
A fire engineer, by training, education and experience comprehends the nature and characteristics of fire and the mechanisms of fire spread and the control of fire and the associated products of combustion.
She/he understands how fires originate spread within and outside buildings/structures can be detected, controlled, and/or extinguished is able to anticipate the behavior of materials, structures, machines, apparatus, and processes as related to the protection of life, property and the environment from fire. She/he has an understanding of the interactions and integration of fire safety systems and all other systems in buildings, industrial structures and similar facilities is able to make use of all of the above and any other required knowledge to undertake the practice of fire engineering
